AI for Electricians: Answer While on a Job

Most AI for electricians answers the phone or writes quotes. This guide covers your website: what an AI agent answers from your pages, where it stops, how sparks reach your emergency line, and the EV charger price check Mo builds for you.

On this page

AI for electricians mostly means three things today: a voice that answers your phone, software that writes estimates, and dispatch tools for the office. The part they leave out is your website, where a homeowner types "Do you do panel upgrades?" while you are in a crawl space. An AI agent can answer that from your own pages, take the job details when the customer wants a visit, and point anything that sounds dangerous to your emergency line. Here is what to give it, where it stops, and a price check you can build in one message.

A panel upgrade question while you are on site

Take Kestrel Electric, an example two-person shop in Columbus, Ohio: Ray, the licensed owner, and Luis, his apprentice, with no one in the office. On a Monday at 1:30 pm both are rewiring a kitchen, and nobody is online in the portal. Hannah, a homeowner in Westerville, opens the chat on Kestrel's Squarespace site and types: "Do you do panel upgrades? We still have a 100 amp panel and just bought an EV."

The agent replies: "I'm Kestrel Electric's AI assistant. Yes, we upgrade panels from 100 to 200 amps and install Level 2 chargers, and Westerville is in our service area. A panel upgrade is priced after Ray sees your panel. Would you like a starting price for the charger?" The facts come from Kestrel's services and service-area pages; the first sentence comes from the disclosure rule further down.

The agent answers from your content, not from guesses about your business. Point it at the pages a homeowner reads before calling: services, service area, licensing and insurance, warranty, financing and any prices you publish. It replies in 80+ languages, so a question in Spanish gets your answer in Spanish.

One trap is common on trade websites. The crawl reads the text on your pages, images only by their alt text, and embedded frames not at all. A price sheet uploaded as a photo, a service-area map or a booking form from another company stays invisible. Upload the price sheet as a text PDF or DOCX file instead (a scanned PDF stays unread), list your towns and ZIP codes as text, and add a Q&A pair for every question your site leaves open (knowledge sources).

Hannah says yes, gives the distance from the panel to her garage wall, and gets a starting price from a skill Ray built with Mo (more on that below). Then she asks for a visit. The built-in Lead Generation skill asks for name and email by default; Ray added phone and street address in the AI Studio. It asks only for what Hannah has not already written, sums up the job in one sentence and forwards it. There is no read-back, so a mistyped number reaches Ray as typed, with the whole conversation beside it.

The request lands in Leads with the transcript, and the new-lead email goes out by default, so Ray reads it on his phone at lunch (leads). The agent also offers this on its own: when it cannot answer reliably from your content, or a visitor wants something only you can give, like a firm quote, it offers once to forward the request and asks for contact details only after the visitor says yes.

What does AI for electricians actually do?

AI for electricians is software that takes routine office work off an electrical contractor: answering calls and website questions, writing estimates, scheduling crews and chasing paperwork. The tools split by where the work arrives. Phone answering services pick up calls, estimating tools turn measurements into quotes, and a website agent answers the people who would rather type than call.

Ultimo BotsUltimo Bots is an AI agent for your website that answers visitors from your service pages, takes job requests when they want a visit, and hands the chat to you when you are online. It installs on Wix, WordPress, Webflow or any site that takes a short snippet, and the same agent can answer your Facebook page in Messenger and your WhatsApp Business number.

The questions it takes are the ones you answer ten times a week. Do you work in my town? Do you install Level 2 chargers? Are you licensed? What does a service call cost? None of them needs you on the phone, and each one left unanswered is a homeowner who calls the next name on the list.

When a customer writes that something is sparking

A website agent must never play electrician. It cannot see the panel, and a wrong word about a hot outlet is a safety problem, not a customer service one. It also cannot place a call, so an emergency has to reach the phone number you publish. Write that into a behavior: a short rule of up to 250 characters the agent follows on every channel, above its defaults.

Behavior: safety
Never diagnose a fault or explain a repair. If someone mentions sparks, smoke, a burning smell, a hot or buzzing outlet or lost power, tell them to stay clear and call our emergency line, (614) 555-0139. If there is smoke or fire, call 911 first.

In the AI Studio, open the Behaviors tab in the "Your agent" panel, click Add Behaviors, paste the rule and click Add, or describe it to Mo, who words it for you. Add a second rule for the AI disclosure. The website chat shows "You are chatting with an AI assistant" above the first message on every plan, but Messenger and WhatsApp show no such notice, so this rule makes the agent say it there too:

Behavior: AI disclosure
If none of your replies so far has said you are an AI assistant, say so briefly in this reply. The welcome message at the start does not count, since the visitor may not have seen it. If asked whether you are human, say plainly you are an AI.

And when nobody is online? While Ray and Luis are on site, the "Talk to a human" button stays hidden, because it only appears while someone has switched themselves online in the portal's Live Chat section. The agent keeps answering and takes requests. When Ray is back at his desk and switches online, the button returns; he clicks Join, the visitor sees that he has joined, and the AI stops replying until he leaves (live chat).

Build it with Mo: an EV charger starting quote

Answers, leads and a safety rule are the floor. Your agent is not a FAQ bot: it is an agent you can build almost any skill into, by describing it in plain words to Mo, the builder in the AI Studio. For an electrician, a good first skill is the question behind half your charger calls: what will it cost? If you publish install rates, Ray's message to Mo could read:

Message to Mo
When someone asks what an EV charger install costs, ask how many feet the charger spot is from the electrical panel. Work out the starting price from our published rates: $650 including 25 feet of wire, $18 per extra foot, plus the $95 permit fee. Say the firm price comes after we see the panel, and offer to forward a request for a site visit.

Mo builds the skill and puts the arithmetic into a small piece of code instead of leaving it to the AI, so the sum comes out the same every time. The code runs in an isolated sandbox with no network access. For Hannah's garage, 40 feet from the panel, it works out $650, plus 15 extra feet at $18, plus the permit: from $1,015.

$65025 ft included+15 ft × $18Extra feet+$95Permit=From $1,015Starting price
The skill adds your published rates; the firm price follows a site visit. Example prices.

Mo tests the skill before reporting back, and you can ask the agent yourself in the Test tab; test answers use AI credits like any other. When your rates change, tell Mo the new numbers. If your price book lives in job software with a public HTTPS API that takes an API key or access token, Mo can read the current rates from there instead: it reads the API documentation, asks for the key in a secure field and stores it encrypted; the key is never sent to the AI. Each call has to answer within 20 seconds.

Two limits keep this honest. Software that only connects through its own sign-in flow, or runs on a computer in your office, does not fit. And a skill on your own system cannot check who a visitor is, so keep it to public facts like rates, never a customer's jobs, invoices or appointment history. New skills per plan: Free 1, Smart 3, Boost 10, Ultimo 30 (AI Studio).

Phone answering or a website agent: which do you need?

Count where last month's new jobs came from before you buy anything. If most rang your phone, a phone answering service is the better first purchase. If they came through your website, your Google profile link or your Facebook page, a website agent answers the people who never call. Our AI receptionist guide compares the two in more depth. Two phone-first tools and ours, as read on their official pages on October 28, 2026:

My AI Front Desk lists Business-in-a-Box at $99 a month or $79 billed annually, with 200 voice minutes, 400 SMS and 100 web chat conversations. Sophiie features electricians among its trades, publishes no prices and offers a demo. Ultimo Bots answers no calls and sends no SMS: it is the text side, priced per agent, with your teammates included.

What it costs an electrical contractor

Ultimo Bots is priced per agent in AI credits, and teammates cost nothing extra, so Ray and Luis pay what a solo electrician pays. As of October 2026, Smart is $29 a month ($19 billed yearly) with 500 AI credits, Boost is $59 a month ($39 billed yearly) with 2,000, and Ultimo is $149 a month ($99 billed yearly) with 10,000. A standard answer uses 1 AI credit. Building with Mo draws on the same balance: a quick question uses a few credits, building a skill more. On Wix, billing runs through the Wix App Market (pricing).

Smart covers a two-person shop: 3 skills leave room for the price check, and the built-in Lead Generation skill does not count toward them. Electrical contractors with several crews and a busier site get more on Boost: 10 skills, an automatic monthly re-read of the website once you switch it on, and the option to remove the "Powered by Ultimo Bots" line.

Set up the agent between two jobs

  1. 1

Install it where your site lives

Sign up in the portal. Wix has our app, WordPress a plugin, Webflow a Marketplace app; other builders take a three-line snippet, Squarespace through Code Injection on a paid plan.

  2. 2

    Feed it your trade pages

Add your services, service area and licensing pages, upload the price sheet as a text PDF, and list your towns as text.

  3. 3

    Add the two behaviors

Paste the safety rule with your own emergency number, then the AI disclosure, into the Behaviors tab.

  4. 4

Ask Mo for the price check

Send Mo your published rates in one message and let it build and test the skill.

  5. 5

    Text it like a homeowner

In a private window ask "Do you work in my town?", "My outlet is buzzing" and "What does a charger cost?" The second must end at your emergency number, never at a diagnosis. Test requests are real and reach your Leads.

Questions arriving on your Facebook page or WhatsApp too? Connect them in the portal and the same agent answers there from the same pages (WhatsApp). For the wider picture of AI in customer service, see our AI customer service guide.

Questions and answers

What is the best AI for electricians?

It depends on where your customers reach you. If most new jobs ring your phone, an AI phone answering service fits first. If they come through your website or Facebook page, a website agent like Ultimo Bots answers from your own service pages, forwards job requests with the whole conversation and sends anything dangerous to your emergency number.

Does the AI agent answer phone calls?

No. Ultimo Bots answers typed questions on your website, chat link, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. It does not answer calls, send SMS or call anyone back. For phone answering, look at voice services; as of October 28, 2026, My AI Front Desk lists phone answering at $99 a month, or $79 a month billed annually.

Can the agent diagnose an electrical problem?

It should not, and a behavior tells it so: never diagnose a fault or explain a repair, and send anyone who mentions sparks, smoke, a burning smell or lost power to your published emergency line, with 911 first if there is smoke or fire. The agent cannot place a call itself, so test the rule with a few messages before you rely on it.

Can it give a customer an estimate?

It can repeat the prices you publish, and Mo can build a skill that adds your published rates, such as a charger install priced by distance from the panel. A firm quote still comes after you see the job; the agent offers to forward a site-visit request.

Is there free AI for electricians?

Every new Ultimo Bots agent starts with a small one-time allowance of free AI credits. Every paid plan also starts with a 7-day free trial. After that, Smart costs $29 a month ($19 billed yearly) with 500 AI credits, as of October 2026.

Which website builders does it work with?

Ultimo Bots installs from the Wix App Market, as a WordPress plugin, as a Webflow Marketplace app, or as a three-line snippet on most other sites. Squarespace needs a paid plan for Code Injection. GoDaddy and Google Sites take it as an embedded chat on each page.
